In the summer of 2011, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer released a report detailing the highly collaborative process behind the development of the Prevention Policies Directory, as well as a look ahead at the road to growing the Directory into a practical, essential reference for anyone with a stake in creating effective cancer and chronic disease prevention policies.

This webinar provides an overview of the Prevention Policies Directory’s resources for students at schools of population and public health, and how they can be used to complete assignments for public policy courses as well as to develop briefing notes, complete environmental scans, policy analyses and evaluations, and other tasks typically performed in a future career public health.

This webinar provides an overview of the Prevention Policies Directory teaching resources for faculty and course instructors of schools of population and public health, and how they can be used to create assignments and lectures that develop student’s knowledge and skills in the core competencies of public health, particularly those that pertain to public policy.

Tobacco Control

Tobacco Control Policy Resources Webinar (2016)
This webinar provides an overview of the tobacco control policy tools and resources developed by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer such as the Prevention Policies Directory, tobacco control policy “tag cloud”, emerging issues backgrounders, and the cessation aids and coverage infographic. Case scenarios were used to illustrate how these tools and resources can inform and add value to tobacco control policy work.

Active Transportation

Active Transportation Policy Resources Webinar (2016)
This webinar provides and overview of active transportation policy tools and resources developed by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer. The webinar features an overview of the “tag cloud” of active transportation policy terms located on the Prevention Policies Directory landing page that assists users in quickly accessing policies within a specific area of interest. It also profiles the Directory, policy maps and policy case study documents and knowledge summaries highlighting how each can inform and add value to active transportation work.

This webinar provides an overview of the Canadian Municipal Active Transportation Policy Map how it supports active transportation policy work in Canada, and how to submit a policy to the map. These slides also contain information about our Healthy Canada By Design partner’s active transportation policies form municipalities across the country.
