The Partnership has facilitated a series of education sessions that recognize the critical role that synoptic pathology reporting plays to inform diagnosis and treatment decisions. The education sessions are designed to promote awareness within the pathology, clinician and cancer registry communities. They are also intended to support pan-Canadian planning and implementation activities within the Electronic Synoptic Pathology Reporting Initiative.

CAP Cancer Protocols:
Led by pathology experts, these 90-minute workshops, provided in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP) and Cancer Care Ontario, are accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons for continuing education credits. Recordings of these sessions are available online as reference materials.

Cancer Registry and Informatics:
In support of the Electronic Synoptic Pathology Reporting Initiative, the Partnership has facilitated a number of knowledge transfer sessions to help with the adoption of clinical and informatics standards. These presentations by leading experts relate to staging, electronic tools, EHRs and data repositories, and informatics standards.

Demos of Electronic Reporting Tools:
Pathologist-led demonstrations provide an overview and lessons learned presentations about the electronic implementation of CAP cancer protocols.

Vendor-led demonstrations provide an overview of tools being used to support electronic implementation of the CAP cancer protocols in Canadian pathology laboratories.

Synoptic Pathology Implementation and Lessons Learned:
Following the success of the National Staging Initiative, Ontario and New Brunswick have shared implementation approaches and lessons learned with provinces who are currently participating in the Electronic Synoptic Pathology Reporting Initiative. Recordings of these WebEx presentations are available online as reference materials.
